BETTY, Nancy Dobson-age 78, born July 10, 1933 in Tuscumbia, AL. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ben Betty. She is survived by her son, Rucker Betty Deborah; daughters, Ann Webb Betty of Nashville, and Virginia Betty-Bruggeman Brian of Boulder, CO; grandchildren, Ben Betty and Elizabeth Betty; special cousins, Leslie Glenn, Judy Wolfe, Hughes Webb, Bill Webb, David Walker, Dan Webb; aunt, Mary Frances Webb; sister-in-law, Ann Sory Betty Meadows Lee; nieces, Sarah Meadows Brown Bert and Anna Meadows Davis Mike. Nancy graduated from Vanderbilt in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History. She was bestowed the prestigious award of Lady of the Bracelet and Miss Charm her senior year. During her college years she was also a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and very active in student government. Upon graduation, she was employed by Davidson County Department of Public Welfare where she was responsible for two districts. The State of Tennessee offered her a scholarship to Tulane University for their social work graduate program. She married Benjamin Rucker Betty III in April of 1958. Nancy had many achievements in her life but serving as the 1973 Fannie Battle Christmas Carol Chairman and on the Board of Centennial Club were some of her most proud moments. Throughout her life some of her favorite things were walking, sewing, her book club, chocolate, and tending to a lovely wildflower garden on a bluff overlooking the Cumberland River which was begun by Mrs. Newman Cheek. She was a loving grandmother whose grandchildren called "Buddy". A Life Celebration Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 2p.m. at Hillsboro Presbyterian Church 5820 Hillsboro Road Nashville, TN 37215 with Pastor Chris Adams officiating. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alive Hospice.     I’m sorry to read in the Colbert County Reporter in Tuscumbia, AL, that Nancy had passed away. I knew her at Deshler High School. She was a wonderful person, very pleasant, was considered a good student, and was well liked.
    My prayer and condolences go out to the family.
