Elijah “Odie” Alexander Veach died at home in his grandmother’s arms on November 20, 2017.

After falling victim to brain injuries from a car accident in which killed his mother and father, Betty and Logan Veach, he lived every day fighting for the life he lived eloquently and innocently. Dying only nine days before his 24th birthday, Eli leaves behind so many that were inspired by his continuous smile throughout his life.

Elijah is survived by his grandmother, Dorothy Sullivan (James Crow), and grandfather, Logan Veach. Siblings: Christy Cleland, Lee Veach, Damien Burks, and Audrey Meeks. Aunt Beverly Tomlin (Billy Tomlin). Nieces: Brittany Cleland and Sophia Veach. Nephews: David Cleland, Gunner Meeks, Brayden Meeks, and Ruston Meeks. Not mentioned are the many people that loved and supported him, most notably the staff at Harris Hillman, where he attended school for 22 years.

A celebration of Elijah’s life will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, November 25, at West Harpeth Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. A gathering for family and friends will be on Friday, November 24, from 2-8 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Dorothy, I’m so sorry to hear of Odie’s passing, my heart hurts for you. He was such a sweet and happy boy, always smiling. You gave him such loving care. I felt honored that you trusted me to transport Odie on the bus.

    Sweet lil Eli,
That’s who u are to me, as it’s been 2 decades since I held u in my arms. I spent many nights at VCH by your side & learning to care for u the way u needed. That first night Drs said u wouldn’t make it, but I didn’t believe them! So I sat at your bedside reading you stories & just holding u & praying over you. You don’t know it but I was in a really rough place at that time & YOU saved me! You & ONLY U, made me a better person& laid the groundwork for the mother I am today. I wish I could’ve still seen you over these years but I still kept u n my prayers & thought of u so very often. I send my sympathy & condolences to all of your huge family that loves u! But now you are all healed again& perfect in every way & you r in the arms of the angels… your mommy& daddy & I can only assume that your playing up there with my sweet baby Ryan Bruce, whose been an angel for 13 yrs now. Christy, Audrey , Lee, Dorothy, Logan, Beverly, kim & Cammie I haven’t seen u in sometime but plz know I’m thinking of you all!!
    With love

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of dear Odie. I know he will be dearly missed. Our Heavenly Father wants you to be comforted at this time. In Revelation 21:3-5, He has given us the future promise of no more tears, pain or death. “All things will be made new.” Until this promise is realized, through prayer and comfort from the scriptures, I hope you find peace, strength and courage. My sincere sympathy.
