She attended and graduated from Nashville Business College and worked for Travelers Insurance and the Veterans Administration in Nashville.  She and her husband Woodson Miller opened Woody Miller’s Gulf Service Station in the Sylvan Park area of Nashville and made it into a business success and community gathering place for three decades.  Elise and Woodson had two boys, Woody and Eddie.  She retired before Eddie was born to stay at home and raise a family while still handling the bookkeeping duties for the station. She had hobbies that kept her busy including sewing, reading, genealogy and china painting, at which she was so proficient that she taught porcelain painting classes for over twenty years. She was a well respected artist and teacher.  She was a devoted wife and mother and served as a care giver to her mother, husband and son for years.  She was a very loving and giving person and was very proud of her family, who returned that love and pride.
