    To Nick’s Family,
I remember Nick being one of the more wild guys when we were stationed in the DC area in the early 60’s I remember him sitting in our living room in Ohio and telling us about the horrors of night carrier landings and that he’d gone on to subbing in the NYC schools and flying for NWA. I am Dolores Hansen Nelson, wife of two wonderful 10th Company men. Ed Hansen died unexpectedly in 1991, and in 2006 I married Carl Nelson and moved to San Diego. Sadly, Carl has Alzheimer’s and our lives have been constricted.
We hope that knowing he was loved is comforting to you.

Nick, you were a good classmate and a good man – although our paths rarely crossed after graduation, I remember your sincere smile when we did have the good fortune to meet. RIP, Nick.

    Dear Family of Nick Nicholson,

Nick and I were partners in getting our B707 ratings starting in December 1969. We had so much fun together. We treated this training like a joke and finished 1st and second in the class about six weeks earlier than the last pilots who finished. Our first simulator ‘FLIGHT WAS 9:00 PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON NEW YEARS EVE. Nick felt that we would get the most junior instructor pilot with TWA and he was correct. This guy was so straight that he insisted on us staying until we went past midnight. Nck and I made up for that by celebrating until 10:am and then back to another simulator until after midnight.

We were so trashed that all we did was laugh as we kept crashing the simulator. Nick was an outstanding pilot and a real pleasure to be around. He always had his smirking smile and was quite pleasant. The simulator instructor was astounded that we still aced all the tests and checkrides to finish up weeks ahead of the rest of the class.

I lost my wife, Patricia, after 54 years together with for wonderful sons with three of them world authorities in their different fields. God bless all of you and I will see Nick on the other side!

    Yours very truly,

Allen E. Strasser LTC USAFretired and TWA B767 Captain retired retired 5 miles west of Mt Washington in Bretton Woods, NH. 03575
