His gentle, kind spirit has gone to be with the one he loved and served for so many years. Rev. Slay’s influence and inspiration lives on in the hearts and lives of the Trevecca Nazarene College students he mentored and advised. The group that rode on the “Big Yellow Bus” have fond memories of Sunday School classes in the basement, wonderful sermons by our pastor, music by the choir, lots of hugs and kisses when we needed them, visits to their home after church for “Grilled Sandwiches and Mama Slay’s delicious Cream cake, or anything found in the fridge,” and croquet games at the Parthenon after church on warn Sunday evenings. How they put up with us, I will never know.

Mrs. Slay, Stacie, and Monica: Many years have passed since our time at TNC (1966-1970}. You have grown up, gotten married and have your own families. We all have fond, loving memories of the precious time we had together. You were” our family” during those four years. Thank you for sharing your Mom and Dad with us. Give Mom a hug and kiss for us.

Love and prayers are with you all.

    Dear Marie & Family,
This is to express our sincere sympathy for the loss of your devoted husband Brother Troy. We attended Trevecca together and served on the District as fellow pastors. His signature on my Diploma from Emmanuel Bible College is a constant reminder of our friendship and appreciation for his life and ministry. We are joining your many friends in prayer for the Holy Spirit to comfort you and your family during this very difficult time. God bless you Marie!

We were students at TNC and started attending Immanuel Church of the Nazarene in 1975. Rev. Slay even asked me to preach the fall revival. I learned so much from Pastor Slay that has helped me in 35 years of pastoring churches in NC, OK, NE, and IN. A great man, a godly man, full of wisdom.
