Barbara Jo Newton

Mrs. Barbara Jo Newton, age 83, of Goodlettsville, TN passed away, Monday, February 12, 2024.  Mrs. Newton was born August 7, 1940, in Giles County, Pulaski, TN to Mattie Pearl and Mason Roberts.  She will be remembered for her love of animals, cats, birds, opossums, even a skunk or two.  Barbara enjoyed reading romance novels, traveling and visiting casinos.   She also liked to watch wrestling with her grandson Zachary, Sammy Zayne in particular. Barbara was a woman, strong in her faith as a member of Metro Baptist Church. But her greatest love was for her family.  She enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and watching them play sports.  It brought her great joy to be able to cook for those she loved and was a master chef when it came to her dressing, potatoes, and red-eyed gravy.  

Mrs. Newton is predeceased by her husband, Farris Newton; parents, Mattie Pearl and Mason Roberts; and daughter, Debbie Newton.  She is survived by Terry (Debbie) Newton, son; Donna Newton, daughter; Tony (Tammi) Newton, son, and Ashley (Jesse) Hall, daughter; grandchildren, Tabitha Austin, Tyler (Brittany) Newton, Tanner (Taylor) Newton, T.C. (Adrienne), Ty Newton, Zachary Hall, and Nick Newton; great-grandchildren, Teagan, Tillie, Tucker, Kainen.  

A memorial service for Mrs. Newton will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2:00pm with the family receiving friends prior to the service at 12:00pm until service time at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN.
