Betty Jo Roberts, born July 2, 1946, in Greenbrier, West Virginia, and of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Thomas West, surrounded by her loving family.
Born to Ruth Ellen Boone Sanford and Harold Eugene Sanford, Betty dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and her community. She devoted many years to serving her neighbors and friends at Sylvan Park Restaurant, where she nourished not only the body but also the spirit of everyone who walked through the door.
Betty was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, and she shared it with warmth, generosity, and love every single day. She had a unique gift for making those around her feel seen, loved, and cherished.
She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Putt of Waverly, Tennessee, and Lisa Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee; her son, Dallas (Christi) Roberts of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Samantha (Clint) Uselton of Dickson, Tennessee, Alicia (James) Putt of Waverly, Tennessee, Angela (Terry) Hopper of Dickson, Tennessee, Brandon (Jewell) Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee, Chad Sr. (Ivelice) Putt of Waverly, Tennessee, Christian (Ellie) Roberts of Memphis, Tennessee, and Elijah Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee; and her sister, Ellen Miller, and brother, Eugene Sanford, both of Bell Buckle, Tennessee.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Chad Jr., Nalianna, and Niya Putt of Waverly, Tennessee, Dylan Uselton of Dickson, Tennessee, Hannah Montanye of Waverly, Tennessee, Paige and Ricky Schnepf of Waverly, Tennessee, Kaiden, Keileigh, Kane, and Kinsleigh Lawson of Waverly, Tennessee, and Brandon and Grace Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee, along with many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas King Roberts Sr.; her parents, Ruth Ellen Boone Sanford and Harold Eugene Sanford; her sisters, Joyce Myers, Jeannie Sanford, and Helen Amick; and her brothers, Walter, Harold, and Mike Sanford.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at West Harpeth Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee. Family will gather at 3:00 p.m., and the public is invited to celebrate her life from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be performed by Pastor Scott Worley.
Betty Jo Roberts’ life was a testament to love, faith, and community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and strength that will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
