Mr. David Leslie Cooprider, age 78, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2026, at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on October 21, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, David’s journey was one of perseverance, faith, and boundless love for those around him.

Over the years, David's vocations included Database Administrator, Electrician, Pepsi delivery man, guitar instructor, and more. His diverse career reflected a remarkable adaptability and an unwavering work ethic. He graduated with highest honors from Nashville State Technical Institute with an associate's degree in information technology. David enjoyed being the desktop support for many friends and family, always ready to lend help with patience and expertise.

Beyond his professional achievements, David was a man of countless talents and passions; he could do anything he decided to try. He was a competitive chess player, a single-engine pilot, tennis player, swimmer, pole vaulter, and more. He found joy in music his whole life. He was a skilled guitar player, singer, and songwriter. He also played keyboard, drums, and bass. His creativity extended into building; he could build or fix anything. He built his home addition and remodels, garage, decks, and intricate model ships with his own hands. Many who knew him fondly recall his excellent cooking, which was another way he expressed his love and care. Above all, David held strong faith in Jesus. He loved his family, and friends deeply. He enjoyed teaching others any and all of the above. He was a perpetual optimist who never gave up. He will be remembered for his generosity, faith, and humor. In the hearts of his loved ones his memory will forever be cherished. He had a strong sense of right and wrong and was not afraid to say so out loud. He was a devoted husband, father, builder, and musician.

He fought hard against health problems, primarily blood cancer which lead to severe back pain.  Eventually God decided he had fought long enough and mercifully ended years of that with a quick stroke. He had hope in his Savior in this life and the next.  He stayed here with us as long as he could.

David leaves behind a devoted family who treasured him dearly: his wife of 27 years Marsha Greenwell Cooprider; sons David Patrick Cooprider, Richard George Cooprider; daughters Tami Lee Rutledge and Valerie Ruth Schrock-Gonzalez (Nelson); brother Terry Cooprider; sister Kathy Williams; many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Gelvin Cooprider; mother, Betty Jane Dawson Cooprider Christman; and son, David Leslie Cooprider, Jr.
