David “Dusty” M. Mosley, a proud Tennessean and beloved, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025. A man of unwavering strength, quick wit, and deep loyalty, David lived life with passion and purpose—leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Born with a remarkable gift for numbers and dates, David never forgot a birthday or anniversary and could recount family milestones with perfect clarity down to the minute. His mind was as sharp as his sense of humor, and he used both to lift those around him every single day.
David served his country honorably as a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne, 25th Tropic Lightning Infantry. Upon returning home, he dedicated over 35 years of service to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), where his work ethic, reliability, and generosity earned him the respect of colleagues and community alike.
David had a zest for life that was contagious. He was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his team with pride. He had a lifelong love of Chevy cars, classic rides, and anything with a good engine and a great story. Racing and bowling were favorite pastimes, and he found peace and joy in the mountains—especially on cherished trips to Gatlinburg, where he created countless treasured memories with his family.
A rock for those he loved, David was a man who stood tall in both character and spirit. He lived each day with gratitude and enthusiasm, embracing the simple joys and the thrill of the open road alike.
David’s legacy is one of loyalty, strength, humor, and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Rest in peace, David M. Mosley. Your story lives on in every mile we travel, every cheer for the Vols, and every mountain sunrise we see.
