David Lang Thompson was born March 28, 1959, to Lorene and Bill Thompson in Nashville. He passed away April 7, 2023. A graduate of Cohn High School, David earned a B.S. in Business from MTSU and a B.S. in Accounting from TSU. He enjoyed a long career in health care finance. An avid coin collector, cyclist, student pilot, and world traveler, his favorite destination was Australia. David was an animal rescue advocate and supporter of the ASPCA. He volunteered for the LGBTQ suicide hotline and Artrageous, a fundraiser for HIV/AIDS research. David was known for his wicked sense of humor and his distinctive laugh. His kindness and care will be missed by his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his mother and father and by his sister Terri Veach. He is survived by his husband Steve Scarborough, his sister Donna (Rex) Perry, his niece Joy Perry, as well as brother-in-law Johnny Veach, aunt Helen Coggin, cousins Michael and Derrick Coggin and families, and a circle of devoted friends.
Visitation will be at West Harpeth Funeral Home on April 13th, 2023, from 5-7pm and again on April 14th,2023 from 1030-11:30 AM. A graveside service will follow at 12:30pm at Harpeth Hills Memorial gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Nashville Humane Association.
