Don Burgess

Don Franklin Burgess - age 83, passed away June 1, 2021 in Nashville, TN.
Mr. Burgess is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth D. Burgess and daughter, Jennifer Burgess.
Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances Burgess; son, Donald R. Burgess, daughter, Cathy Gonzalez; grandchildren, Randall Don Lewis (Tabitha), Bryan Nicholson (Amanda), Bart J. Sims, Steven Tyler Nicholson; great-grandchildren, James Nicholas Jones, Alliyah Bennett, Gavin Bennett, Randi "Mackenzie" Lewis, Collin Randall Lewis, Dixie Ann Nicholson, Bryan Keith Nicholson, Jr., Emma Gordon, Randall Don Lewis, II "RJ"; brother, Larry Burgess (Evelyn), and numerous other nieces, nephews, and family members.

Don served our country for 13 years beginning in 1959. He loved the Lord and was a member of Richland Freewill Baptist Church. He was a joker and loved pulling pranks on his friends and loved ones. In his younger years he enjoyed Drag Racing, Left Turn Racing, and maybe an occasional Street Race. He was an exceptional Auto Body Repair man. His work gained customers that often turned into friends from all walks of life. He also loved fishing. If Don thought the fish were biting he and his friends were going to fishing and they didn't come back empty handed. Then the Fish Fry began, fun times, and of course the Shenanigans begin. Don did his best to help friends and strangers in need.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Stanley Outlaw officiating. Burial to follow at Howard Cemetery in Cookeville, TN. Pallbearers include: Billy Moss, Rick Brown, Randall Lewis, Nick Jones, Tyler Nicholson, Joey Tanner.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at West Harpeth Funeral Home
