H. Chris Powell, 80, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was born on November 23, 1939 in Cartersville, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jones Powell, his sisters Judy Shiflett (Dwayne) and Linda Rowland, his daughters Christy Biles (Danny) and Julia Hedrick (Frank), grandchildren Anna and Carl Hedrick and three nephews and two nieces. He was a 1957 graduate of Cullman High School in Cullman, Alabama. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1957 until 1961. He was a graduate of St. Bernard College in Cullman, Alabama and earned a Master of Divinity in 1974 from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. He served as a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod pastor for 27 years at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville, Alabama; Concordia Lutheran Church in Nashville, Tennessee; St. John Lutheran Church in Burns, Tennessee and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashville, Tennessee. The visitation and funeral are Monday, December 23 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 800 Bellevue Road, Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation: 9:30-11:00 a.m., Funeral at 11:00 a.m. All are invited to a fellowship meal at the church immediately following the service. A private family burial will be held at Middle Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Trinity HOPE, 2024 Hunter's Place, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122
