Jacob Hemphill Fogle, 38, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on July 18, 2026.

Jake was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 28, 1988, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. His last several years were spent in Nashville, and he built community at his church in West Nashville and with his colleagues at Sixt Car Rental.

Jake was a big man, and he lived life with an outsize amount of love and humor and care for those around him. He had a deep faith in God that defined much of who he was. He was proud of his extended family and frequently showed off pictures to anyone who crossed his path.

In addition to loving the people in his life, he loved hiking in the mountains, playing disc golf with his buddies, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, listening to Celtic/Country/Motown music, sharing pot-luck suppers with friends, reading anything from science fiction to theology, and having an opinion on just about everything. For many of us, Jake was our favorite person to talk (or argue good-naturedly) with. He had recently finished a year-long management program at Sixt and was eager for this next chapter. Although his family would have enjoyed Jake living nearer to them, they appreciated his choice to stay in Nashville with his close-knit community.

We grieve for all the moments that we will not get to share with Jake, but we rejoice that he is home. We imagine he is climbing mountains, belting early-aughts CCM tunes and pestering God with questions.

He leaves behind his mother, Kristi Fogle; his father, Glenn Fogle; his sisters Asher Paul, Ayden Fogle, Ansley Fogle, Adyson Chery, and Aeryn Fogle; his brothers-in-law Justin Paul and Emmanuel Chery; his nieces, Emerson Paul, Gwendolyn Brumbaugh, Kamiyah Fogle and Kehlani Manley; his nephews, Sullivan, Montgomery and Osborne Paul; and his grandmothers, Georjean Fogle and Margaret Jones — all of whom will forever cherish his love, humor and memory. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth Jones and Lyle Fogle.

Family and friends are invited to a service at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24th, at Hope Community Church, 4905 Tennessee Ave. Jacob’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
