Mr. James Ray Bell, age 94, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away comfortably at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Mr. Bell was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman, loved eating catfish and fishing on Kentucky Lake. He served as a deacon at Penn Avenue Church of Christ, and also attended West Nashville Heights. Currently, he was a member of the Kingwood congregation. Mr. Bell had 40 years of service with Roadway as a truck driver and after retiring, spent his time with the Men’s Bible Class and had many volunteer hours working with Disaster Relief.
Mr. Bell is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lela Bell; wife, Nellie Virginia Bell, daughter, Sandra Jean Bell Hunter, and 5 siblings. He is survived by his children, Brenda G. Bell Hatcher and James R. Bell, Jr. (Janine); grandchildren, Erin Hale (Austin), Justin Ray Bell, Alyssa Katherine Waldron (Caleb), Tony Hatcher, Jeannie Mullinix (Andrew) and 7 great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends at West Harpeth Funeral Home 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10:00AM until the service time at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN at 1:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Disaster Relief in Mr. Bell’s honor.
