Jesse Thomas King, a dedicated railroad employee and United States Army veteran, passed away on June 17, 2026, in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Born on January 25, 1938, in Nashville, Mr. King led a life marked by diligent service both to his country and his community.
Mr. King’s early years were rooted deeply in Nashville, where he was born to Hugh and Irene King. He served honorably in the US Army for two years during the Korean conflict, demonstrating a commitment to his country that would remain a defining aspect of his character throughout his life. Following his military service, Jesse embarked on a career with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad (L&N Railroad), where he was employed for many years.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Irene King. He is also predeceased by his siblings Margaret Donnell (Howard), Josephine Daugherty (Buford), Betty Barrett (Elwood), and Hugh Roy King (Mary).
Jesse is survived by his sisters Shirley Holt and Jackie King. He was also a beloved uncle to multiple nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Jesse Thomas King's contributions in both military service and the railroad industry earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and loved ones alike, emblematic of a generation that built the foundations of modern America.
