"Susie" Johnnie Ellis

Johnnie Rose Ellis, “Susie,” age 69 of White House, TN passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Hawkins and Berta Lee Wilson Ellis, and
one brother, Wendell Ellis.

Susie is survived by her loving life partner of many years, Angela Cawthon; brothers, Howard
“Buggs” Ellis and Richard Ellis (Michelle), sister-in-law, Bette Ellis; nieces, Bridgett Carlsen (Chris), Amber Butler
(Michael), Shasta Gosset and Libby Kelly; nephews, Ricky Ellis, Dustin Ellis (Tasha) and Brandon
Ayres (Kirsten); great nieces, Ashley (E.J.), Fallon, Kailey and Kasey; great nephews, Austin (Sara), Noah, River,
Hunter, Sage, Josiah “Josey,” Justin, Daniel, Gabe, Judd, Austin Ellis and Lindsey; great-great niece, Navy James; great-great nephew, Ace, and 2 beloved fur babies, Maggie and Blue. Also, a group of friends that became
family in so many ways they may not know.

Susie was born in Old Hickory, TN and graduated from White House High School. She retired
from the Ford Glass Plant after 30 years of dedicated service.
Susie loved her family and friends deeply and cherished every moment she could spend with
them. She loved all aspects of the outdoors. She often said that she should have been born 100
years sooner. She was a strong person physically, mentally and spiritually. She was a giver and
enjoyed having people around her. She said you can always learn something from almost
anyone you meet. She enjoyed gardening, working with her tractor, boating, fishing and
hunting. She loved playing sports in her younger years and she was a really good first baseman
and pitcher, even though some said she needed to grow taller until they saw how short her
Mom was.. She enjoyed talking about as a child playing football (quarterback) with her brothers
and how excited she was when Buggs brought her her own uniform including pads and helmet.
She loved her nieces, nephews, greats and great-greats. She had spent the spring/summer
planning and working on a playground in the backyard for them.
She was loved more than she ever knew and will be missed greatly.

A “Celebration of Life” for “Susie” will be at Sleeping Bear Lodge, 7552 Swift Road, Greenbrier, TN 37073                                 Sunday, October 29, from 3-5pm.
