Aunty Magrate Yap

April 10, 1952 — May 22, 2025

Gallatin, Tennessee

Magrate Yap, a radiant soul whose vibrant spirit illuminated the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 5:00 a.m.—her favorite time of day. She left this world with grace and serenity, surrounded by love, and left behind a legacy rich in joy, creativity, faith, and boundless affection.

Magrate was a woman of deep passions and simple pleasures. Her love for dancing was infectious—whether in moments of celebration, worship, or the quiet rhythm of daily life, she moved with joy and grace. An exceptional cook, she was especially known for her delicious curry puffs, a treasured treat she lovingly shared with family and friends, especially her grandsons, Lucas and Luke. Through food, she expressed her love, passing down not just her recipes but also her warmth and generosity to her only granddaughter, Lara.

Her everyday life was infused with delight. Magrate found happiness in rearranging furniture to create harmony, in cleaning as an act of purpose, and in winning games of Phase 10 played with family and friends. Her laughter was contagious, her voice lifted in spontaneous worship, and her spirit danced with the hummingbirds, butterflies, and dragonflies she so adored.

Magrate cherished yellow roses, the warmth of the sun, and the soothing rhythm of the sea. The beach was her sanctuary—where she found rest in the presence of God, surrounded by nature’s beauty. She had the soul of an artist, sketching the world as she saw it: vibrant, alive, and full of wonder.

A woman of profound faith, Magrate was a devoted Christian whose spiritual life guided all she did. Alongside her husband, she founded Shachah Ministries International, a community of worship, healing, and transformation. To her Shachah family, she was more than a leader—she was a mother, mentor, and friend.

Magrate lived with a rare blend of purpose and playfulness, reverence and joy. Her life was a rich tapestry of color, movement, kindness, and unwavering trust in God’s goodness. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and eternally celebrated.

Magrate is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Yap; her three daughters, Mae, Melissa, and Maxine; her sons-in-law, Guy, Rob, and Justin; and her cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Lara and Luke. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched.
