Mallory Wayne Marlin

February 24, 1942 — May 13, 2024

Nashville

Mallory Wayne Marlin, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home. A lifelong resident of Nashville, Wayne was born on February 24, 1942, to James Wesley and Tommie Mallory Marlin. After graduating from Cohn High School, Wayne obtained his B.S. from Middle Tennessee State College in Murfreesboro. Wayne married the love of his life, Patricia Edwards Marlin, on August 10, 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Wayne was a member of Bellevue Church of Christ, and he always put his faith first. The Lord answered his prayer that his entire family would receive salvation. Wayne spent over 50 years in the insurance business. Most of his career was spent with Thornton and Harwell. He retired from BB&T Insurance Services, Incorporated as Assistant Vice President of Risk Consultant. Following his retirement, Wayne enjoyed vacationing and traveling with his family. He also was an avid collector and astute historian. In his earlier days, Wayne spent time hunting and fishing. However, his love for the outdoors was transformed into supporting his kids and grandkids in various activities and sports. Wayne loved the Tennessee Vols and was a proud father and grandfather of four UT students. Even at his older age, Wayne was a kid at heart and never turned a practical joke down. His strong moral compass allowed him to be a dedicated husband to his wife, a loving father to his two boys, and an outstanding Pa to his four grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Tommie Lucille Mallory Marlin.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia Marlin; sons, Brian (Karen) and Jason (Toni) Marlin; and grandchildren Stetson, Maverick, Olivia, and Ava Marlin.

The family will receive friends from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, May 24, 2024, at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM. A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will begin at 1:00PM on Saturday in the Chapel at West Harpeth. Following the service, Wayne will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
