Mary Ruth Shearon passed away on October 3, 2023. Born on April 25, 1924, Mary Ruth lived a remarkable life full of love, dedication, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Mary Ruth was a remarkable woman who made significant contributions in various aspects of her life. During the war, she served as a riveter and dedicated her time to sewing buttons on uniforms. Her commitment to supporting the armed forces was deeply admired by those around her. In addition to her military service, Mary had several hobbies and interests that brought joy into her life. She had a green thumb and spent many hours gardening, nurturing beautiful flowers and plants. She also enjoyed antiquing, spending countless hours searching for unique treasures that held stories from the past. Mary had a talent for sewing and quilting; she created intricate designs that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. Lastly, Mary had a passion for collecting lamps; each one told a story and illuminated her home with warmth.

Mary Ruth's love was not limited to her hobbies but extended to her cherished family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, James Shearon; Parents, Elvis and Izorah Riley; Son, Edward Shearon; Granddaughter, Heather Bridges; and great-grandaughter, Amya Wynn. 

She is survived by her daughter Linda Faye (Larry) Shyers; Son, Wayne (Ronda) Shearon; Daughter-in-law, Paula Shearon; Grandchildren, Jami (Brad) Denton, Christopher Shearon, Brooke (Kenneth) Wynn, Karen Shyers, Thomas (Rachel) Shearon; Great-grandchildren, Derrick Musgrove, Emma Denton, Logan Denton, Kalen Shearon; Sister, Wylodean McCormack and brother, Paul Riley.

During this time of mourning, let us remember Mary for the remarkable person she was. Her infectious laughter, warm smile, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who knew her. We will always carry her memory in our hearts and strive to honor her legacy of kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the ALS Foundation in honor of Mary Ruth's memory. This donation will continue to support causes that was dear to Mary's heart.

Mary Ruth's funeral services will be held at the West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. The visitation will take place on October 6, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and continue on October 7, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on October 7th at Bethel Cemetery starting at 1:30 PM

Mary Ruth Shearon was a remarkable woman who brightened the lives of countless individuals through her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love.
