Joeann Etheridge Antwine, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 10:45 a.m., surrounded by her three children: Louann Antwine Enoch, Harold Melville Antwine III (“Trey”) and John Etheridge Antwine.


Joeann was born on September 16, 1939, in Louisville, Mississippi to Joe Smith Etheridge and Dollie Ford Etheridge.


She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Ruth Etheridge Westbrook and Ramona Etheridge Speed.


Joeann attended Central High School in Jackson, MS graduating in May 1957. During her high school years, she was selected as a class beauty and was recognized in Who’s Who. She was also an active member of the Record Club, the Mask & Shield Speech Club, and the cast of the musical The Red Mill.


On June 4, 1960, Joeann married Harold Melville Antwine Jr. (“Happy”) at St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson, Mississippi. That fall, the couple moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where Happy completed his degree in pharmacy at the University of Mississippi. Together they raised three children: Louann Antwine (), Harold Melville Antwine, III (“Trey”) and John Etheridge Antwine.


While living in Oxford, Joeann worked for Maurice Inman, head of the Continuing Education Department at the University of Mississippi. During that time, she also earned her secretarial degree.


After returning to Jackson, MS, Joeann became deeply involved in her community. She was a 50+ year parishioner of St Richards Catholic Church, a devoted member of St. Dominic’s Auxiliary, where she participated in the annual St. Dominic’s Follies. She was also a member of the La Soirée Luncheon Club at the Jackson Country Club, serving as its president in 2009, and was an active member of the Antique Club of Jackson.


Joeann loved gardening as well as being an enthusiastic fan who rarely missed an opportunity to celebrate or cheer on her children and grandchildren at their school and athletic events. She also remained a loyal supporter of her beloved Ole Miss Rebels and treasured attending football games in Oxford throughout the years.


Above all, Joeann was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her gracious spirit, faithful friendships, and unwavering love for those closest to her.


She is survived by her three children, Louann Antwine Enoch (Charles) of Murfreesboro, TN, Harold M Antwine,III(Trey) (Priscilla) of Jackson, TN, John Etheridge Antwine of Oxford,MS and her five grandchildren: Brooks Antwine, Peyton Antwine, Reese Antwine, Logan Antwine, and Ava Grace Antwine.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church in Jackson, Mississippi. A Requiem Mass will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m., celebrated by Father Joe Tonos.


Family and friends are invited to gather for fellowship following the Mass in Foley Hall at St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
