Rhonda Lynn Mitchell
November 8, 1954 – November 3, 2026
Rhonda Lynn Mitchell, 71, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on November 3, 2026, just five days shy of her 72nd birthday.
Born and raised in Nashville, Rhonda attended Hillwood High School and discovered her passion for hairstyling at an early age. She went on to spend her life as a beautician, a profession she truly loved. For Rhonda, her work was about much more than hair. It was about helping people look and feel their best, forming friendships, and bringing a little joy and confidence into the lives of others.
Her generosity extended well beyond the salon. Rhonda volunteered her time teaching hairstyling classes to women in prison, sharing her skills, encouragement, and a sense of possibility with others.
Rhonda was funny, outspoken, independent, and wonderfully free-spirited. She had an artistic soul, a kind heart, and a stubborn streak that those closest to her knew well. She loved to travel, listen to music, paint, and surround herself with art and creativity. And then there were the cats. Rhonda absolutely adored cats. Anyone who knew her understood that her love for them deserved a special mention all its own.
She lived life on her own terms, with humor, creativity, and a generous spirit. She had a way of making people feel special, whether through her work, her friendship, or simply being herself.
Rhonda is survived by her son, James Clauer; daughter-in-law, Kristin Barlowe; grandchildren, Chaplin Clauer and Navarre Clauer; and sisters, Heather Mitchell and Zana Paradise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Escobar; her father, Eugene Mitchell; and her mother, Doris Palmore.
Rhonda leaves behind a lifetime of memories, countless lives touched by her kindness, and a little more beauty in the world because she was here.
