Suresh Kumar Acharya

Suresh Kumar Acharya, age 68, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away at home of natural causes on November 30, 2023.  Affectionately referred to as “S.K.” by his doting wife of 41 years, he spent his last breaths by her side as he passed. 

Born in Odisha to the late Keshab Chandra and Khira Lata Acharya.  He attended medical school in India and emigrated to the U.S. in 1983.

As a man deeply rooted in his culture and Hindu faith, he ensured the values and principles of his household were guided by his traditional beliefs.  Suresh regarded his role as a physician as a high honor and deeply felt this was an important aspect of his being.  He practiced as an internal medicine physician in Tennessee until the age of 65, at which time he retired due to health complications in 2020.  If not for his health issues, there is no doubt he would have been practicing until the day he passed away.  

Since his retirement from medicine, he had learned to truly enjoy the best parts of life, including the company of loved ones, gardening, further connecting with his faith, sitting on his porch listening to mantras, babysitting his grand dogs and becoming a grandfather.  

Suresh is survived by his wife, Rashmi, his son, Rajesh, his daughter, Suneeta (Joseph Selby), and his cherished granddaughter, Sahana Selby. 

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at West Harpeth Funeral Home in Nashville, Tennessee from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Acharya family would like to express their gratitude for the support they have received from friends and family during this difficult time.
