Vertrese Marie (Farmer) Greer "Mama Tootsie", age 98, passed away April 12, 2015.

Preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Gertrude Farmer; husband, Hubert Anderson Greer; daughter, Patsy Marie Greer; grandchildren, Chuck Greer, Barry Greer and Robert Greer three brothers and two sisters.

Survived by children: Wayne Greer (Maxie), Ray Greer (Carol) and Sherry Downing (William Downing deceased); Grandchildren, Gina Walker (Scott), Terry Knight (Carl), Lisa Carter, Nicky Weiss (Cindy), Tina Miller (Jeff), Tammy Stewart (Melvin), Tony Greer (Michele), Andy Downing (Suzanne), Mandy Stewart (Tim), Sundie Showah (Jason) and Jeff Greer; Twenty great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Marie attended Cohn and Hume Fogg High School.
During World War 11, she worked at Temco making shells, and was employed at Cross Keys Restaurant from 1948 until 1960. She then attended Helena Dyes Beauty School. In 1960 she began working at Loveless Cafe and retired in 1986, and was still doing hair in her 90's. While at Loveless, she had the honor of meeting and serving such greats as Paul and Linda McCarthey, Chet Adkins, Vince Gill and other great stars. She was a life long member of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and an avid supporter of Presbyterian Children's Home. Special thanks to loving sitters Candis Roberts, Bonny Hence, Renea Carter, Judy Delaney and Alive Hospice.

A life celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at West Harpeth Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alive Hospice.
