William Copen Jr.

William (Mr Bill) Albert Copen, Jr., 96, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born in Barberton, Ohio, to Dorothy and William Copen, Sr., on October 8, 1926. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette Morgan Copen, and grandson Craig Brandon Copen.

He leaves behind his children Karen (Brian) Kilian, Dennis (Donna) Copen, Mark (Pat) Copen, Laura (Frank) Mucerino, and Amy (David) Nash, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the South Pacific, was a Life Member of VFW Post 1970, and a member of Ionic Lodge #254 (F&AM) for 45 years. He retired 33 years ago from the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs and was recognized by President Bill Clinton and former Governor Ned McWherter for his efforts in processing claims to help other veterans.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on July 16 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, with interment on July 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane.
