William "Bill" Moulton Ward passed away suddenly on October 27, 2019 at the age of 83. Mr. Ward was born in St. Louis, MO on September 9, 1936. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grace Moulton and James Crawford Ward, brother James Crawford, Jr, sister Grace Ward Hall and dear cousin Tony Ward of Lake Forest, IL. He is survived by his son, William Moulton Ward, Jr (Christy) of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Maury Ward Woolwine (Mark) of Nashville; five grandchildren, William Jackson Ward, Cooper Norvell Ward and Grace Spinner Ward of Los Angeles, Riley Fontaine Woolwine and Maxwell Reed Woolwine of Nashville, TN, sisters Ann Ward Morgan (Hugh) of NC, Irene Watkins Ward of Nashville and brother Stephen Watkins Ward (Helen) of Nashville, TN. Mr. Ward attended Montgomery Bell Academy, graduated from Brooks School, N. Andover, MA in 1955 and Trinity College, Hartford, CT in 1959. Mr. Ward served 6 years in the TN Air National Guard before working at J.C.Bradford&Co. for 20 years. He joined SunTrust Bank for 14 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Nashville, the Belle Meade Country Club, the Nashville City Club and a lifetime member of the USTA. Mr. Ward was a tennis enthusiast and was fortunate to work and learn from William "Pro" Lufler. He continued his passion for tennis as the captain of his team at Trinity College and later in life with his doubles partner, John Thorpe. Ward and Thorpe were formidable doubles City Champions from the 1960's through the 1980's. Mr. Ward served as the Head of the Tennis Committee at the Belle Meade Country Club where he was instrumental in establishing the indoor tennis facility and recruitment of Thay Butchee as the long serving head tennis pro at The Club.

The Ward Family is extremely grateful for Dr. Richard Meyer, Dr. Stacey Vallejo, Dr. Morgan Parker, the Belmont Village, Blakeford at Home, and Alive Hospice.

Honorary Pallbearers are Sam Oakley, John Thorpe, Tom Andrews, Robert Calton, Mike Wallace of Naples, FL.

A graveside service will be held on November 10, 2019 at 2:00pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville. A remembrance celebration will follow.
