William Richard Schroeder, 87 of Nashville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home. A lifelong resident of Nashville, he was born on July 24, 1935, to the late Louis (Mattie) and Myrtle Schroeder. He attended North High School where he was the quarterback of the football team. His passion for sports included watching basketball and cheering on the Tennessee Titans. William worked for Colonial Bakery for over 30 years. He was a member of Charlotte Heights Church of Christ. William loved his ice cream, and he enjoyed traveling especially to the beach and to the mountains.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Nola Schroeder; stepmother, Mattie Schroeder; siblings, Louise Crosslin Maxwell, Herman Schroeder, and Charles Schroeder.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Diane (Mike) Smith, Gail (Mike) Moore, Connie (James) O’Dwyer, Karen (Jim) Gibson, and Regina (Don) Dorion; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nephew, Gregg (Francis) Schroeder, and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1:00PM until 7:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 10:00AM until 1:00PM also at the Funeral Home. A Celebration of William’s life will begin at 1:00PM in the Chapel at West Harpeth with Pastor Josh Barnett officiating. Following the service, William will be laid to rest in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Mike Moore, James O’Dwyer, Jim Gibson, Derek Smith, and Gregg Schroeder. The elders and deacons of Charlotte Heights Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
