Dudley Reed

Dudley Allen Reed, 78 of Chapmansboro, TN, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his home. He was born in Nashville on June 17, 1944, to the late Onzie and Earler Grissom Reed. Although a plumber by trade, Dudley was a comedian at heart. He was a jokester who enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and family. Dudley was also a gifted musician and could play guitar and sing. He loved the outdoors, especially watching his deer and turkey and fishing. Dudley enjoyed all things wrestling, country music and westerns. Above all, Dudley was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchild and great-grandchildren who were his whole world.

In addition to his parents, Dudley was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Reed; daughter, Joyce Birdwell; and siblings, Joyce Reynolds, Barbara Bailey, Virginia Ballew, Carolyn Whitaker, Ozell Reed, J.C. Reed, and Hoover Reed.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving granddaughter, Kimberly Birdwell; great-grandchildren, Breanna, Ariel, and Robert; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will all miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at the funeral home. A funeral service will begin at 11:00AM in the chapel. Following the service, Dudley will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
