Gerald Odis Davenport, born May 23, 1931, in Cardwell, MO passed on September 7, 2021. He was married to the love of his life, Linda Lou Davenport for 62 years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (Papaw, Pappy) and member of First Church since 1985.
Gerald (Jerry) was preceded in death by his precious wife, Linda, daughter, Kimberly Carol, his parents and 4 siblings. He is survived by daughters, Tonja Joy, Jerrilyn Joy (Wendell), Leilani Joy (Jay) and Shawnee Joy (William); sister, Carol; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerry made lifetime friends while growing up in Flint MI. As well as, living and working in various Air Force bases, Battle Creek MI, Colorado Springs CO, Kansas City and St Louis MO, Seattle WA and Nashville TN.
Jerry served in the Air Force, worked for Ma Bell, Southwestern Bell, at&t (Retired 1989) and Telecommunications for the State of TN (Retired again 2015). Jerry always remained very active in his church, local community, children and grandchildren's schools. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, infectious smile, random outburst of singing and whistling, unconditional love, genuine kindness, and not only a jack-of-all-trades but a master of all. Jerry will be remembered by many as a true Christian whose godly wisdom impacted everyone he met. His love for Jesus was evident through his true spirit and grace for anyone with whom he crossed paths. Jerry found his greatest joy in giving of himself, time and resources to others, love of learning and new gadgets. He was often known as G.O.D. but will be fondly be remembered as "Exemplary".
A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 12:00PM, at First United Pentecostal Church. The interment will follow at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday September 13, 2021, from 4PM until 7PM, then again on Tuesday from 11:00AM until the service time at 12:00PM, all at First Church.
