Ivan Gaines

Ivan Gaines – Age 91, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2021, in Nashville, TN.  He was the son of the late Omer Pearl and Ruby Hilliard Gaines.  Mr. Gaines was also preceded in death by his wife, June Gaines in 2019 and two sons, Thomas Dwayne Gaines, Jon Payne Gaines, and one daughter, Patricia Ann Gaines.

He is survived by his stepmother, Wanda Gaines; daughters, Carolyn Sue “Susie” Dennison, Kristal Lynn Silver, Elizabeth Dorman; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gaines was born in Flora, Illinois and lived there until the age of fifteen and upon the death of his mother he moved to Northern Illinois to live with relatives.  He spent the majority of his life in that area working maintenance at Ottawa Silicia Company and later was a pipefitter with the Local Union 404 and traveled working construction. He moved to The Meadows Retirement Community in 2017.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

A Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. on November 6, 2021, at Powers Cemetery in Wayne County south of Zena, Illinois.
