Nashville

John R. “Ricky” Haffner, 73 of West Nashville, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Ricky was born in Nashville on June 9, 1949, to the late John Henry and Louise Chester Haffner. A West Nashville Native, Ricky graduated from Cohn High School in 1967 where he was a member of the baseball and football teams. Following high school, he remained active in sports playing travel softball. He was athletic and enjoyed being on the ball field with his friends and teammates. Ricky owned Charlotte Avenue Market for over 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding around and visiting his friends who also remained in West Nashville. Ricky had a happy-go-lucky spirit and was always smiling and laughing. His friends had a lot of different nicknames for him including, “Crazy Horse” and “Crazy Cat.” Ricky was always a jokester, and he never met a stranger. He loved animals and even began feeding his squirrels in his backyard. Ricky was the best dad to the “best little girl in the world.”

In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Clay and Nettie Davis Haffner and Norman and Annie Mae Vaden Chester.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Jennifer (Thomas) Ford; siblings, Joyce (Jack) Davis and Doug Haffner; niece and nephew Jill Davis (Charles) Spicer and Jonathan (Rachel) Davis; and a host of extended Haffner family members in Franklin, TN, beloved friends, and teammates.
