Kay Spears

Andrea Katherine “Kay” Spears, 79, of Nashville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. She was born to the late Lawrence Thomas Marlowe, Sr., and Mary Ewing McMurry in Nashville on September 26, 1943. Kay graduated from West High School in 1963. In her earlier days, she was a dancer with the Pauline School of the Dance and Nick Lambos Dancers. Along with her husband, Hubert Y. Spears, Jr., they were an integral part of the Junior Pro Football League. She also was involved with the Nashville Babe Ruth Baseball League as well as the West End Sertoma Church Basketball League. Kay was a member of the Belle Meade United Methodist Church.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Hubert Y. Spears, Jr., and parents, Mary Ewing McMurry and Lawrence Thomas Marlowe, Sr., and stepfather, Sam Wilkerson.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children Andrea (Rob) Eanes and Bert (Jennifer) Spears; grandsons, Cameron (Kelsey) Eanes, Drew Eanes, and Braden Spears; granddaughter, Eliza Spears; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 3:00PM until 7:00PM at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM service time in the Chapel at West Harpeth Funeral Home. Following the service, Kay will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
