Margaret Smith

Margaret “Nana” Smith of Nashville, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home April 29, 2022, at the age of 86 years.  Known as a strong, yet kind and gentle woman, “Nana” poured her love into the lives of the children she babysat and the fur babies she had over the years.  She loved to cook, made the best green beans, hamburgers and gravy, and sweet potato casserole always welcoming family to her table.  Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays, and she was known for leaving her Christmas tree up way past the beginning of the new year. Mrs. Smith liked to go to yard sales and enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.  She was “everybody’s Nana.”

Mrs. Smith is preceded in her passing by parents, John and Margaret Currey, husband, George Smith, brothers, Robert, Ernest, David, Johnny, Fred Currey, and sister, Dorothy Pruitt.  She is survived by her brother, James (Debbie) Currey, sister, Linda Currey (Gary) Cowan, daughters, Debbie (Gerald) Cowart, Georgia Spence, Betty Sue (Bruce) Sharpe; grandchildren, April, Jennifer, Lindsay, Haley, and Shelby; and 10 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Blake, McKenzie, Connor, Logan, Skylar, Bayleigh, Cameron, Stryker, and Leo.

The family will be receiving friends at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022, between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 pm, and on Thursday, May 5th from 11:00 am until the service time at 1:00pm.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1101 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN.
