Mitchel Tidwell

January 7, 1954 — April 3, 2023

Mitchel "Mickey" Tidwell was born on January 7, 1954 to his parents William and Delphine Tidwell. Born into a family of 8, he was the 3rd out of 6 children, making him the original president of the Middle Child Club. Mickey was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, William and Delphine Tidwell, sister Diane Pack, and brother James Wesley "JW" Tidwell. He is survived by his wife, Latricia "Trish" Tidwell, son Nathan "Cowboy" Tidwell (Crissy), daughter Sarah (Brandon) Brown, grandchildren Ciarra, Maureen, Jade, Lexi, Carson, Colton, Bailie, Natalie, and Kimber, and great-grandchildren Jace and Jacob, brothers Raymond and Charles Tidwell, sister Anita (Greg) McClurkan, and many nieces and nephews.

Mickey was a profound man. His life work included 20 years in the Church of Christ ministries, mental health services while guiding and helping those in need. He dedicated almost 30 years to the State of Tennessee Department of Correction. Mickey's passion was to serve others and to enrich the lives of all he met. On top of that he always had a hankering for learning. He got his Bachelor's degree at Freed Hardeman, then he got his Masters of Psychology at Tennessee State University. And then, only just a couple years ago, he went back to Freed Hardeman to get his Doctorate, but unfortunately could not complete it due to unforeseen medical issues.

Mickey was also a big family man. After being raised in a big family, he wanted one of his own. He met Trish in Nashville in February of 1977 , and they married in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia on the 29th of October 1977. They had two children together, and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mickey may not have had the big family to start with, but he was blessed beyond measure with the family that came later in life. He loved his family, and they love him back. After Mickey survived so much in his life, he was able to give more to the world by becoming a tissue donor and he has been able to continue his life's passion. While see you laters are hard, remembering Mickey and the love he had for life and those in his life, makes it a little bit easier.
