Our Caregiver of the Month: Eronda Hackett

Aug 29, 2019
L to R: Michell Price (Family Legacy), Eronda Hackett (Highpoint Hospice), TJ Tewmey (Family Legacy) This month we are honored to share with you another amazing caregiver who was nominated and celebrated by one of our employees and her peers as well. Congratulations to Eronda Hackett of Highpoint Hospice. TJ Tewmey was impressed with the demeanor of Eronda and the caring she shows for families as he sees her at the toughest times bringing the loved one of a family into our care. Not only does she prepare each family for the next steps and what to expect when the funeral home arrives, but her empathy and big heart shine through as she often hurts right along with them. Sheryl Palmer works with Eronda, but when her family needed hospice services, the impression made by this special caregiver is obvious in the words she shared. "Eronda Hackett was the nurse who was on duty the weekend my Father-In-Law, Franklin Palmer passed away. During the 2 months of Frank's hospice care, the family never met or spoke with Eronda until his final weekend, but my mother in law, Melba Palmer, referred to Eronda as "her greatest blessing". Eronda took her time speaking with each and every family member. She wasn't afraid to hold my mother-in-law's hand and help her process the rapid decline in Frank. No question was too small. No question was too strange. Every question was answered in only the way Eronda can answer things-openly, honestly, plainly and with concern and sympathy. She made everyone feel comfortable and important. Her loving actions and words made her feel like an old friend to our family during this time of sadness instead of someone we had just met. Eronda was just what our family needed: a genuine, kind, caring and lovable nurse. Thank you Eronda, for being you- you made all the difference."
